Economic Development

In Indiana Purdue University is working on converting corn stover (stalks, cobs, husks and leaves left over after kernels are taken) to ethanol. The Indiana Dept of Commerce has given them a grant to pursue this because it could help Indiana's economic development. Why don't we see if we can do the same thing with what's left of sugar cane?
